Facelift in Rockwall by Dr. Robert K. Kwon, MD

Dr. Robert K. Kwon, MD, and his experienced team of plastic surgeons in Dallas can help patients achieve a more youthful, natural appearance and increased confidence through facelift surgery. As we age, our skin loses elasticity and begins to sag and wrinkle. Facial skin, constantly exposed to the sun and elements, can lose elasticity more quickly than other areas of the body. A facelift can remedy this tired, aged appearance.

What is a Facelift?

A facelift is a plastic surgery procedure designed to correct signs of aging in the lower face, such as sagging skin, deep creases, and jowls. By lifting the deep tissue of the lower face, smoothing and tightening skin, and removing excess tissue, a facelift can achieve significant facial rejuvenation.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Facelift?

Ideal facelift candidates typically wish to correct one or more of the following signs of aging:

  • Deep nasolabial folds (lines from nose to mouth corners)
  • Wrinkling along the cheeks and neck
  • Skin laxity on the upper cheekbones
  • Jowls (loose skin around jawline and chin)

The Facelift Procedure

Each facelift is personalized to fit the individual patient's unique facial characteristics. The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis under anesthesia. Incisions are typically placed within the hairline, behind the ear, and beneath the chin to minimize visibility. The skin is then lifted, excess skin is removed, and the remaining skin is redraped and sutured into place.

Facelift Recovery

Most facelift patients return home the same day of surgery. Initial swelling and bruising will begin to diminish after a few days. Stitches are typically removed 4-7 days after the procedure. Patients should limit movement and activity for a few weeks post-surgery. Final results become apparent after several weeks, though some facial "settling" may continue for several months.

Facelift Results and Longevity

Facelifts are designed to provide natural-looking and lasting results. While patients will continue to age naturally after a facelift, the procedure allows for more graceful aging. The longevity of results depends on the specific procedure and individual factors, which Dr. Kwon will discuss during the consultation.

Combining Procedures for Optimal Results

Dr. Kwon often combines fat transfer with facelifts to restore volume for a more youthful appearance. Additional procedures such as eyelid surgery, brow lift, or non-surgical treatments may be recommended to address other areas of concern and achieve comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
