Liposuction: Advanced Fat Reduction at Holland Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics

Comprehensive Consultation with Dr. Sarah Holland

At Holland Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics, Dr. Sarah Holland conducts thorough liposuction consultations. She evaluates each patient's medical history and aesthetic goals, discussing treatable areas such as the abdomen, thighs, submental region, and arms. Dr. Holland may explore combining liposuction with other procedures like tummy tucks for enhanced results. If skin tightening is necessary, Dr. Holland determines this during the consultation.

Dr. Holland assesses whether the procedure can be performed in-office under local anesthesia or in the operating room under general anesthesia. Factors considered include fat volume to be removed, treatment areas, and patient comfort. Holland Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics ensures patients feel safe and comfortable throughout the process.

What to Expect During Liposuction

Patients at Holland Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics receive personalized care throughout their liposuction journey. Following the initial consultation, pre-operative instructions are provided. Surgery takes place at an accredited outpatient surgical center. Post-surgery, patients attend follow-up appointments for monitoring and care. Recovery involves managing discomfort and swelling, with gradual improvement in body contour over several weeks. The experienced medical team at Holland Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics provides guidance and support to ensure a positive experience and satisfying outcome.

Important Considerations for Liposuction

  • Maximum discomfort occurs in the first few days post-procedure, gradually subsiding thereafter.
  • Expect bruising, with more extensive liposuction resulting in more bruising. Individual bruising tendencies vary.
  • Compression wear must be worn continuously for 4-6 weeks post-surgery.
  • Plan for 5-7 days off work, with additional time for physically demanding jobs.

Liposuction Procedure at Holland Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics

Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty and suction lipectomy, surgically reduces localized or regional excess fatty tissue. Dr. Holland determines the most appropriate variation for each patient. Common treatment areas include the abdomen, hips, arms, thighs, bra fat, and inner knees. The procedure may be performed alone or combined with other treatments. Dr. Holland can perform small volume areas in-office under local anesthetic, while larger volumes are addressed in the operating room.

Post-Treatment Care

Dr. Holland provides detailed post-operative care instructions to ensure a smooth recovery. Patients receive guidance on wound care, potential side effects, and the importance of follow-up appointments. Dr. Holland remains accessible 24/7 to address any urgent concerns that may arise during the recovery process.

Dr. Holland and her team always provide the utmost care, compassion, and professionalism. I have been a client for several years and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else to have my skincare needs met. I highly recommend this office.

This was my very first visit to this particular plastic surgeon. The staff is cordial, not overly friendly. Dr. Holland was very professional, confident but quite detached. She never used my first name as in “good morning Suzanne how are you today”? It was all about business, which I, guess is what you pay her for. One thing that could be done differently is under the operating room lights, I think an eye mask should have been offered. I also think that it’s not out of the question to be prescribed two or three pain tablets. I know doctors are paranoid about opiates however, they would have made the first 48 hours more tolerable. Something that I didn’t understand was that absolutely NO one contacted me the day after my procedure. It’s just common courtesy to check in on a patient to see how they’re doing and if they have any cares, or concerns. I would definitely recommend that this practice do that. It makes you feel slightly more cared for and that you are not just an invoice number. I had my procedure, I was “done and dusted” as we say in England, and that was the last I heard from anyone. My follow-up appointment time was scribbled on a sheet of paper that they handed me.

I cannot recommend and thank Dr. Holland enough. She is kind, intelligent and confident in her field. It's clear that she cares about the comfort of her patients very much. Dr. Holland listened to every word I said, and she answered every single question thoroughly, ensuring that I retained all of the information and concerns I had, regardless of how minor or stupid the questions I had felt to me. Dr. Holland is the only medical professional that I have felt seen and heard by. After going to at least 5 different doctors with concerns for the breast pain I had, which was, without exaggeration, ruining my quality of life, my concerns were dismissed as being unidentifiable and untreatable, with no cause for removal. Dr. Holland is the only doctor in Maine that offers mastectomy surgery, and she is incredible. I will be grateful for her kindness and talent for the rest of my life. I'm confident, comfortable, and the results are phenomenal. I truly feel that she saved my life. Thank you so much!!
