Brachioplasty: Arm Lift Surgery to Tighten Sagging Arm Skin
As we age, the skin on our upper arms can become loose and saggy, especially after significant weight loss. This can lead to embarrassment and self-consciousness about the appearance of your arms. Brachioplasty, also known as an arm lift, is a surgical procedure that can remove excess skin and fat to tighten and tone the upper arms.
What is Brachioplasty?
Brachioplasty is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat deposits from the upper arm area, tightening and smoothing the remaining tissue. This can dramatically improve the contour and appearance of the arms.
Benefits of Arm Lift Surgery
- Removes loose, sagging skin from upper arms
- Tightens and tones arm appearance
- Improves arm contours
- Boosts self-confidence in sleeveless clothing
- Long-lasting results
The Brachioplasty Procedure
Dr. Buhrer performs brachioplasty as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. An incision is made on the inside or back of the arm, extending from the armpit to just above the elbow. Excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is tightened. Liposuction may also be used to remove excess fat. The incisions are closed with sutures and the arms are wrapped in bandages.
Recovery and Results
Most patients return to normal activities within 2 weeks, with full exercise resuming after 4-6 weeks. There will be some scarring, but Dr. Buhrer places incisions to minimize visibility. Results are long-lasting, especially when maintaining a stable weight. Patients enjoy slimmer, more toned arm contours and renewed confidence.
