The surgical technique depends on the patient's current ear condition. For protruding ears, reformation and splint support may be used. Incisions are made behind the ears to trim soft tissues, tighten skin, and reposition the ears. For small or hidden ears due to underdeveloped cartilage, reshaping, repositioning, and tissue grafting may be performed.

Ear Pinning and Reduction

• Ear Pinning: Cartilage is repositioned or removed to pin the ear back. Incisions are made behind the ear, and sutures hold the ear close to the head.
• Size Reduction: Incisions are made behind the ear to remove cartilage and reduce the ear's size by decreasing the chonchal cartilage's surface area.

During and After Surgery

Ear surgery typically takes 1-2 hours. The area is bandaged post-surgery to manage swelling and soreness. Patients are discharged for home recovery, with bandages remaining for 72 hours. A protective garment is worn afterward. Incisions are made behind the ears, concealing scars. Most patients can resume normal activities within 3-4 weeks.
