I have long debated whether I should write this review, but as I sit here in pain, side effects from a surgery, in which did not go well, I write in hopes of saving someone else this hardship. When I first met Dr. Selim & his staff, I was truly impressed w/everyone, except his office mgr. I was diagnosed w/a hiatus hernia & kinked esophagus. While performing my surgery, Dr. Selim was also going to perform a gastric bypass to assist me in losing weight. My surgery was in Nov. 2023. One week post surgery I woke up & could not walk, I was in so much pain. My stomach was severely bruised. I rushed to my local ER & was told I had a Hematoma on my Pancreas. This occurs when there are gallstones (gallbladder removed 2005), through consumption of alcohol (I don’t drink alcohol), or abdominal trauma. I was given pain medication through an IV & antibiotics, & told to follow up w/my surgeron. Dr. Selim dismissed my symptoms & told me I was over exaggerating my ailments. There was nothing wrong w/me. I was still in pain & my symptoms were getting worse. After 4 more ER visits, 3 in-patient hospital stays, & sent home on IV antibiotics monitored by home health, I finally began my road of recovery. All thanks to the hospital staff at Lake Area and the resident physician. NOT DR. SELIM, who continually dismissed my symptoms & diagnosis as almost fictional. Today, 16 months later, my stomach still hurts occasionally, & I’m still taking prescription medication for it daily. My hiatus hernia was back w/in less than a year, & my health is still not 100%. When we are put under anesthesia for surgery, we don’t truly know what happens. Staff protect their doctors, because they are afraid of the consequences. Please protect yourself & pay attention to your instincts when choosing a physician to perform any kind of procedure - no matter how minor it is. Your wellbeing & life are important. You are important.

Dr Selim saved my life twice over the past 4 years. The first time he fixed my acid reflux with a surgery called fundoplication. My esophogus was damaged and becoming pre cancerous. The surgery halted that problem immediately and forever. The second time my gallbladder was hyperactive, I was beyond nauseated all the time from having constant bile in my stomach from the over production of it. My stomach was inflammed with gastritis and painful as well, and I was losing weight at an alarming rate. He removed my gallbladder and I am doing much better now. He did both surgeries on an out patient basis. Nothing but good things to say about this amazing and gifted surgeon and his staff.
