Understanding Brachioplasty in Charlotte

Charlotte Plastic Surgery offers specialized brachioplasty procedures targeting excess arm skin and tissue. Arm lifts effectively address concerns like sagging skin caused by aging, genetics, and significant weight changes that traditional exercise cannot resolve.

What is Brachioplasty?

A brachioplasty, commonly known as an arm lift, reshapes and contours upper arms by removing excess skin and fat. The procedure targets "bat wings" or drooping arm tissue, creating a more toned and defined arm appearance through precise surgical techniques.

Who Benefits from Arm Lift Surgery?

  • Individuals experiencing significant weight loss
  • Patients with age-related skin laxity
  • Those seeking improved arm contour and definition
  • People with excess, hanging skin in upper arm regions

The Brachioplasty Procedure in Charlotte

Charlotte Plastic Surgery's board-certified surgeons customize each arm lift procedure. Typically performed under general anesthesia, the surgery takes one to three hours and involves carefully removing excess tissue and tightening underlying muscles.

Surgical Details

  • Incision placement along inner arm
  • Precise excess skin and fat removal
  • Muscle tightening and contouring
  • Same-day discharge with post-operative guidance

Recovery and Results

Post-surgical recovery requires careful management. Patients can expect compression garments, restricted arm movement, and gradual healing over several weeks. Complete recovery typically occurs within four to eight weeks, with final results becoming increasingly refined.

Recovery Milestones

  • 24-36 hours: Initial wound care
  • 1-2 weeks: Restricted arm movement
  • 4-8 weeks: Complete incision healing
  • 12 months: Scar maturation

Potential Risks and Considerations

Like any surgical procedure, brachioplasty carries potential risks including swelling, scarring, and temporary numbness. Charlotte Plastic Surgery's expert surgeons minimize complications through comprehensive patient evaluation and personalized surgical approaches.

Common Considerations

  • Temporary post-surgical discomfort
  • Potential scarring
  • Healing variability
  • Need for continued weight management

At the age of 42, I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. The course of action was to undergo a double mastectomy. I asked my surgical oncologist who she would recommend complete the reconstructive process if this was for her or a family member. Without hesitation, she immediately said Dr. Ashley Chandler at Charlotte Plastic Surgery. From day one, Dr. Chandler and Amanda took care of everything. They answered all of my questions and made me a feel at ease. Amanda took care of all things work related when it came to my paperwork. I could not have asked for a better medical team. I will always rave about Dr. Chandler and can’t sing her praises enough. She is incredibly professional, empathetic, and talented in her craft. She is such a blessing!!

Breast Cancer Survivor (3.5 years) If you want a plastic surgeon who is skilled, professional, kind, patient, and understanding of your needs as you need reconstruction (or cosmetic treatments) then Dr Chandler is your surgeon. I went to a male surgeon first, by recommendation, and he did not listen to me at all -he thought he knew best. I had to have Dr Chandler correct his work, and she did an impeccable job! Seriously- Dr Chandler is magnificent. If I could rate her higher than 5 stars, I would. I appreciate her care and support throughout my cancer journey! Make an appointment to consult with her - you will see for yourself!
