is made in the lower abdominal crease. Often, a prior C-section scar
can be removed at the same time. Only a portion of the lower abdominal
skin is removed. The lower portion of the separated rectus abdominis
muscles (the 6-pack) may be pulled together with strong sutures if
possible. The skin from the upper abdomen, above the navel, is not
brought downward. The navel is left in the same place. Lower abdominal
stretch marks are decreased but not completely removed during the
mini-abdominoplasty operation.

RECOVERY AFTER MINI TUMMY TUCK

There will be some discomfort initially, but less than with a
full-scale tummy tuck. This lessens over the week. Pain medications
are helpful for mini-abdominoplasty operations. Overall recovery
depends on the patient's health. One to two weeks off from work for
recovery is recommended. A compressive garment is used for about 6
weeks. Strenuous activities, exercise, and sports are discouraged for
the first 6 weeks to allow the healing tissues to become stronger. The
scar will be red initially but will fade over the next year.
